Comprehensive coverage of Asian Games across seven StarHub TV channels and on mobile and online platforms

StarHub tops off sports extravaganza with free preview of SuperSports

Singapore, 11 November 2010 – StarHub, the Official Broadcaster of the 16th Asian Games Guangzhou 2010, will offer the widest and most comprehensive ‘live’ coverage of the Asian Games free on its TV, mobile and broadband platforms to all StarHub TV customers.

In addition, to add a boost to its buffet of free sports programming, StarHub is offering a free preview of SuperSports (Channel 202)1, dubbed ‘SuperSports Sundays’, to all StarHub TV customers on consecutive Sundays, till 5 December 2010, from 6am till 3am the following day.

StarHub's Asian Games coverage includes:

  • Six dedicated StarHub TV channels dedicated to ‘live’ Asian Games coverage - Asian Games 1 to 6 (Channels 241 to 246);
  • Two dedicated channels on StarHub TV on Mobile and StarHub TV Online available to all StarHub Mobile or MaxOnline Express and above customers;
  • Highlight programmes on StarHub TV's complimentary sports channel SuperSports Arena (Channel 201).

StarHub TV customers may tune in to Asian Games 1 to 6 (Channels 241 to 246) for 'live' Asian Games coverage from 12 to 27 November 2010, whereby 'live' programming will commence at 8pm on 12 November with the Opening Ceremony. The main Asian Games channel - Asian Games 1 (Channel 241), will additionally air a daily highlights show at 11pm, which will be repeated the following day at 8am.

StarHub has already been airing 'live' football preliminary matches featuring the Singapore team on SuperSports Arena (Channel 201) and Football Channel (Channel 222). During the period of the games, SuperSports Arena will broadcast a mid-day highlights show at 8pm, and a repeat of the daily highlights show at midnight.

StarHub Mobile post-paid customers and MaxOnline broadband customers may view StarHub's Asian Games channels on-the-go on their mobile handsets and online via StarHub TV on Mobile and StarHub TV Online. StarHub Mobile post-paid customers with any 3G or 3.5G (i.e. HSPA-capable) handset can view a ‘live’ stream of Asian Games 1 and Asian Games 2 via StarHub TV on Mobile by sending an SMS with the text <LIVETV> to 6757, or by accessing through the Gee! portal. MaxOnline Express, MaxOnline Premium and MaxOnline Ultimate customers simply need to visit to access the 'live' feed of Asian Games 1 and Asian Games 2 on their computers.

A total of 476 events in 42 sports from 45 participating nations will be contested by athletes, making it the largest event in history of the Games. The games will also be co-hosted by Gongguan, Foshan and Shanwei, the three neighbouring cities. All 42 sports will feature in StarHub's broadcast.

The 'live' broadcast feeds for StarHub's broadcast will be packaged by the Asian Broadcasting Union.

Round-the-clock sporting action free on ‘SuperSports Sundays’

StarHub TV customers simply need to tune in Channel 202 to watch the free preview of SuperSports, which is available to all StarHub TV customers on consecutive Sundays, till 5 December 2010, from 6am till 3am the following day. Viewers will be able to watch for free, the ‘live’ boxing showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito in the World Super Welterweight Championship on 14 November at 10am, ‘live’ NBA Regular Season games, ‘live’ German Bundesliga football, ‘live’ Rugby League Four Nations 2010 tournaments, ‘live’ MotoGP Portugal 2010 auto-racing, ‘live’ tennis from ATP 500 Valencia, as well as the wrestling entertainment WWE series.
