Singapore , 21 January 2011 – StarHub TV customers can look forward to a bountiful crop of treats as they celebrate the Lunar New Year! They will be able to view the exciting content on over 130 channels as well as sample selected titles on Demand TV for free. In addition, customers will be able to enjoy special discounts on Ruyi Hokkien Channel On Demand and StarHub’s KaraOK! Day Pass and catch their favourite TVB stars in person at StarHub’s festive celebration at Causeway Point.

StarHub TV customers will be able to enjoy a free preview of over 130 StarHub TV channels from 2 February 2011, 12 pm to 7 February 2011, 12pm. Additionally, movie buffs can catch selected award-winning blockbusters free on both HBO On Demand and STAR Movies On Demand [1]. During this preview period, viewers can look forward to an exciting line-up of first-run programmes including Ni Hao Kai Lan: Monkey King Adventures on Nickelodeon, Sherlock Holmes on HBO and HBO HD, The Princess And The Frog on STAR Movies, 2010 MBC Annual K-Pop Festival (2010 MBC 韩国年度K-Pop音乐节) on E City, Love In A Puff (志明与春娇) on Celestial Movies, and other special Lunar New Year countdown and celebratory programmes like Chinese New Year Eve Special 2011 (Live) (兔跃盛世迎新岁- 现场直播)on TVBJ and Happy Bunnies Go Go Go! (玉兔招财贺新春)on E City. StarHub Mobile pre-paid and post-paid customers will also be able to enjoy the free preview of all 31 StarHub TV on Mobile channels via their handsets.
Meet-and-greet sessions with TVB stars
TVB artistes Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Michael Tse (谢天华), Linda Chung (钟嘉欣) and Shirley Yeung (杨思琦) will be in town to lend their star power at StarHub’s Lunar New Year roadshow. Lai and Tse won the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor Awards at the annual TVB Awards respectively. StarHub has arranged for the artistes to meet and greet their fans at Causeway Point on 22 January at 4pm and on 23 January at 1pm. Fans will get a chance to play games with their favourite TVB artistes and win attractive prizes.
Attractive Demand TV and KaraOK! promotions
To allow customers to sample the extensive range of Hokkien content on Ruyi Hokkien Channel On Demand (StarHub TV Channel 852) during the New Year, StarHub will also offer a free viewing from 1 February to 28 February 2011. Viewers will be able to preview the first ten episodes of a selected title from a range of six drama series. They will also be able to preview over ten variety and info-tainment programmes and watch three episodes from any title in the selection. Some programmes that viewers can tune in for free include Night Market Life (夜市人生), A Place Called Home (娘家) and Zhu Ge’s Return (猪哥会社). As a special festive promotion this February, StarHub will offer customers who subscribe to Ruyi Hokkien Channel On Demand a three-month discount of 50 percent off the regular subscription fee of $6 [2].
Faithful followers of Taiwanese idol dramas will be pleased to know that they will be able to watch the entire series of Autumn’s Concerto (下一站幸福) and The Player (偷心大圣 PS男) anytime on demand for free in the month of February. Fans of Hong Kong dramas are not left out, as customers who are keen in catching TVB’s 43rd Anniversary Drama Special Gun Metal Grey (刑警) or the award-winning period drama Can’t Buy Me Love (公主嫁到) will be able to purchase either series on Demand TV and get the other for free. Gun Metal Grey and Can’t Buy Me Love is available at $31.32 per series [3].
Karaoke buffs will also rejoice, as StarHub will offer a discounted price of $2 (usual price $4.50) for the KaraOK! Day Pass, which offers access to close to 10,000 songs from the hottest and latest karaoke videos, oldies from the 60s and popular children tunes. Customers will be able to get together with their family and friends to enjoy a karaoke session in the comfort of their homes. The discounted Day Pass is available from 2 February 2011, 12pm to 7 February 2011, 12pm.
