Mr Derek Chang, Managing Director of Scripps Networks Interactive, Asia-Pacific said, “Scripps Networks is very excited to launch HGTV in Singapore and we look forward to entertaining StarHub viewers with fresh ideas and authentic stories. Home is something that is near and dear to our hearts and HGTV will be there for our viewers - whether they are looking for ideas to transform their living spaces, to take a sneak peek into their dream homes or simply be entertained and uplifted by the emotional journeys of our HGTV personalities. I am also thrilled to be able to bring our brightest HGTV stars to Asia soon and giving StarHub viewers a hands-on HGTV experience."
Ms Lee Soo Hui, Head of Media Business Unit, StarHub added, “We have had the pleasure of providing our customers with all of Scripps Networks’ lifestyle channels in Asia, from Asian Food Channel to Food Network to Travel Channel and now HGTV. We are now thrilled that StarHub TV customers will not only be the first in Asia, but the first outside of North America to enjoy HGTV’s range of quality content. As Singapore has one of the highest home ownership rates in the world, we are confident that customers will identify with the channel’s home-focused programming. In addition to delivering the channel in high definition, we will work closely with Scripps to bring customers closer to their favourite HGTV personalities in the near future.”
HGTV will be available on the Lifestyle Basic HD Upsize. To give all StarHub TV customers a taste of the channel, a free preview will be held from launch to 30 June 2015. StarHub TV customers will need an HD set-top box to view the channel.
HGTV has already launched its digital assets including its robust HGTV website (www.hgtv.asia) and its increasingly popular HGTV Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HGTVAsia). A Facebook engagement campaign that encourages fans to submit their most imaginative home-related images has been running since 30 October – the best of these images are posted on the Facebook page daily at 4.37pm, playing up the channel’s placement on StarHub’s EPG. This campaign is running concurrently with a “Home Moments” Facebook contest, which launched on 14 November and will run through 4 December. Fans in Singapore are invited to share their candid and heartfelt images of their home, family and friends. The best image submitted with a description will win a top prize worth SGD 5,000.
