StarHub is on global ranking list for third consecutive year
Improved rank position to 24
Singapore, 22 January 2015—Singapore’s first fully integrated info-communications provider StarHub has reprised its place on the Corporate Knights’ Global 100, a list of the world’s most sustainable corporations, with an improved ranking of 24.
The announcement was made today at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, by the Corporate Knights, a Toronto-based media and investment research company. The Global 100, in its 11th year, is recognised worldwide as the gold standard in corporate sustainability analysis.
StarHub first made the prestigious ranking in 2013 with an entry position of 66, before improving to the 29th position in 2014. To date, StarHub remains Singapore’s only info-communications provider to be listed in the Global 100, known as the most extensive data-driven corporate sustainability assessment in the world.
All listed companies with a market capitalisation in excess of US$ 2 billion—numbering 4,609—were considered in the 2015 Global 100 project. Four screens were employed based on companies’ sustainability disclosure practices, financial health, product category and financial sanctions. Companies that passed all four screens constituted the 2015 Global 100 Shortlist. They are then assessed on 12 key quantitative sustainability indicators, including the amount of revenue companies generate per unit of energy consumed, the ratio of CEO to average worker pay and lost-time injury rate, to select the final Global 100.

In 2014, StarHub’s sustainability focuses included talent management and engagement, mobile accessibility, empowerment of the less privileged, employee education and engagement for environmental activities, emissions and waste reduction, and stakeholder engagement. For example, StarHub introduced a Suppliers’ Sustainability Survey to monitor key vendors in its supply chain on social and environmental issues.
Through the innovative 4G4Good campaign, StarHub Mobile post-paid customers were encouraged to pledge their unused talktime, mobile data and SMS in support of selected charities. The info-communications provider also continued to champion waste management with RENEW (REcycling Nation’s Electronic Waste), Singapore’s most extensive and inclusive electronic waste recycling programme for individual consumers.
