December

  • 58 StarHubbers visited children at Sunbeam Place, a home for children and young persons aged 2 to 18 years who are in need of safety and protection. The StarHub employees engaged them in games, food and handicraft activities, as well as painted a cheery wall mural with them.
  • 18 StarHubbers volunteered to help out at the StarHub-ISCOS Bursary Award Presentation Ceremony, ushering the students and their guests, as well as running educational and entertaining game stalls for the children.
  • StarHub invited their corporate clients, partners and friends from the media to decline the traditional Christmas hamper they would receive from StarHub. In exchange, less privileged children from the StarHub-Central Singapore Nurture Programme and their families would receive tickets to Singapore Repertory Theatre's Junior Claus production. Over 200 tickets were given out thanks to the generosity of our corporate clients, partners and media friends.
October
  • StarHub began a one-year contribution to the ISCOS Gift of Hope, an initial relief package given to ex-offenders who have just been released from prison, to help them get back on their feet. Each Gift of Hope contains basic necessities worth $50. StarHub's contribution, worth $54, includes a free pre-paid SIM card and two free top-up cards, as well as a sling bag with a motivational message.
September
  • StarHub held a separate lucky draw at their StarHub Celebrates D&D where staff donations to Eagles Mediation & Counselling Centre totalling $8,440 were raised. This sum was matched by a donation from the StarHub Sparks Fund.
August
  • 37 StarHubbers and their family members joined more than 8,500 walkers in the 4km ComChest Heartstrings Walk 2014 around Marina Bay to raise funds for the needy. StarHub was a Diamond Partner with a $300,000 donation.
July
  • StarHub launched a first-in-Singapore charitable drive for StarHub Mobile post-paid customers to pledge their unused SMS, talktime and mobile data to provide these telecommunication services for free to the less privileged in the community. A total of 7,370 pledges were received, allowing 500 less privileged beneficiaries to enjoy 500 SMS, 120 minutes of talktime and 1.5GB every month for a year.
  • StarHub's third consecutive Hair for Hope satellite event sees a new high of 101 shavees—including employees, subsidiary staff, media, business partners and customers—shave their heads to raise over $120,000 for children with cancer and their families.
June
  • 30 StarHubbers took 34 children from the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) on a StarHub-DAS Challenge around StarHub Green, giving StarHubbers and children alike an insight into the challenges that dyslexia poses. This was to commemorate StarHub’s $160,500 donation towards DAS’ Maths Programme.
  • 40 StarHubbers and 68 of their family members teamed up with 23 less privileged families from Eagles Mediation & Counselling Centre (EMCC) for a morning of fun at the Children's Playground at Gardens by the Bay. The games they played, and StarHub's $20,000 donation to EMCC, demonstrate StarHub's commitment to quality family time.
May
  • StarHub donated $10,000 to Society for the Physically Disabled, supporting Ashokan Ashik and Ashok Kumar, the first two StarHub customers to reach out with a Sparkler’s Initiative. The Sparkler’s Initiative encourages and supports the social outreach efforts of StarHub customers. Approved social outreach activities by StarHub customers get dollar-for-dollar matching up to $10,000 from the StarHub Sparks Fund for donations to the selected beneficiary.
March
  • We renewed our Title Sponsorship of the StarHub-Central CDC Nurture Programme with a $240,000 donation. 52 StarHubbers and their children also took 136 children from low-income families in Central CDC on a Nurturing Science Stars Journey at the Singapore Science Centre.

  • StarHub treated 45 children from the StarHub-Central Singapore Nurture programme to an exclusive book-sharing and meet-and-greet session with WWE legend Booker T.

  • StarHub returned as a Presenting Partner at the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk 2013 with a $300,000 donation. The money went to beneficiaries from Asian Women's Welfare Association, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore and SUN-DAC, 18 of whom joined 190 StarHub staff and their familes on the walk.
  • StarHub's Family Day raised $87,880 from staff and partners for the children of offenders and ex-offenders, under ISCOS' Fairy Godparent Programme. StarHub also invited 20 ex-offenders and their families to join in the Family Day festivities.
  • StarHub sponsored $200,000 for the Society for the Physically Disabled's Infocomm Accessibility Centre to conduct an office skills training programme over two years for 72 people with disabilities.

  • StarHub sponsored $65,000 for youth-driven social enterprise Grid Synergy to conduct workshops and other events that assist at least 25 mental, sensorially and/or physically disadvantaged people achieve a sense of economic independence.

  • StarHub, together with Singapore Prisons and Focus On The Family, brought together 21 Changi Prison inmates, who have not seen or touched their loved ones for months or years, for a special Fathers' Day Dinner.

  • StarHub donated old mobile phones and new SIM cards to 89 workers involved in a local oil rig disaster that caused them to lose their phones.
  • Launched the Golden Gurus programme, in partnership with Council for the Third Age and RSVP, to train tech-savvy seniors to impart IT skills to other senior citizens.
  • 12 StarHub employee volunteers threw a Christmas party for about 60 underprivileged children from the Fengshan-Jade district, to commemorate StarHub's sponsorship of tuition for 186 children from low-income households in that district.
  • StarHub sponsored the Deaf Dragons—a youth-led social cause that aims to empower the sensorially challenged through the discipline and teamwork of dragon boating—$110,000 over three years.
