Singapore, 16 December 2002 - StarHub CableTV today announced a new Mandarin entertainment channel, Asia Plus which will debut on its pay-TV line-up from 1 January 2003.

To whet the appetite of all StarHub CableTV customers, they will all get a free one-month preview of Asia Plus from 1 January 2003, which will be aired on Ch 49.

"Many StarHub CableTV customers will be delighted at the launch of Asia Plus. We had had many requests from customers ever since popular Taiwanese celebrities such as Matilda Tao, Chang Hsiao-yen and Ah Liang joined this new channel. This is our first goodie in the new year for our customers," said Sandie Lee, Vice-President (Programming) at StarHub CableTV.

Ms Lee added that VarietyVision Entertainment had previously carried a few anchor programmes from Asia Plus such as Azio and Swallow Time which received extremely good response from viewers.

A 24-hour Mandarin channel co-founded by Fu Long Production Group and Era Communications Company Limited, both leading players in Taiwan’s media industry, Asia Plus offers a wide variety of programmes, ranging from finance, technology and economic information to lifestyle and fashion, entertainment news, dramas, sports, music videos and concerts.

One of Asia Plus’ anchor programmes is AZIO, which is beamed live from Taiwan daily. It offers the latest news and hottest gossips about showbiz personalities and the Asian entertainment industry. The livewire of this 90-minute show is of course Taiwan’s award-winning host Matilda Tao.

The addition of Asia Plus further strengthens StarHub CableTV’s compelling suite of Chinese programming to 10 Mandarin Channels.
