~ StarHub roadshow helpers at MRT stations to assist with applications ~
Singapore, 10 June 2002 – Special help will be on hand for senior citizens applying for their Senior Citizen ez-link Cards at 15 MRT stations from 10am to 8pm daily.
StarHub and TransitLink have worked together for these special roadshows which would span five weeks. Staff on duty will help senior citizens photocopy their NRICs and complete the form, as well as to clarify any basic queries they may have on the application.
StarHub is also offering special promotions at these roadshows.
"TransitLink understands that some senior citizens would appreciate help in putting together the application. We are very happy that StarHub has extended their help to the community in this novel way," said Mr Peter S C Tan, General Manager at TransitLink.
"StarHub is heartened to be able to contribute to this ez-link Card project and be able to render our assistance to the senior citizens. We always aim to organise roadshows with a difference, and providing this complimentary service is our way of reaching out to and helping the elderly at the same time. We are also taking the opportunity to help raise awareness of the convenience of using the ez-link Card," said Mr KC Lai, General Manager of Consumer Sales at StarHub.
Eligibility
Senior citizens aged 60 years and above who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents are eligible for the Senior Citizen ez-link Card, which acts as a two-in-one Senior Citizen Concession Card and cashless transit fare payment card.
The application can be sent by mail once the form is completed and enclosed with the applicant’s passport-sized colour photo and a photocopy of his NRIC. The Card will then be mailed directly to the applicant after about six weeks and can be activated at any Ticket Office or SMRT’s Passenger Service Centre upon paying a $3 card deposit and $10 stored value.
However, the Senior Citizen ez-link SCN (Senior Citizen Network) Card are only available for application and collection at community centres/clubs. This Card incorporates the People’s Association SCN membership.
The ez-link Card, a contactless smart card, was introduced on 13 April this year for use on the public transport system and will eventually replace the current magnetic Farecard after a parallel run of about six months.
