StarHub Holds First E City Image Spot Competition
Singapore, 12 April 2005 - StarHub is on the lookout for aspiring filmmakers and animators! All local young talents with outstanding creativity now have a chance to get their works aired on local television and displayed on StarHub’s website, and win up to S$2000 cash - all at the same time! What’s more, these talents can look forward to overseas exposure overnight as the winning works will be submitted for international competitions!
E City (StarHub Digital Cable Channel 56), a Chinese entertainment channel packaged by StarHub, is organizing an E City Image Spot Competition. All contestants are to create a trendy and urban impression of a city through their own interpretation of the theme, Impression of the City – You, Me and the City. The duration of each video, including an E City channel sign-off, should either be 15, 20 or 30 seconds. Every entry must be accompanied by a write-up of less than 200 words, on the rationale behind the submitted image spot.
E City has received several international accolades for creativity, and its creatives echo the essence of the channel - young, trendy, energetic and urban. In Promax&BDA Awards 2004, StarHub’s broadcast designs for E City bagged five BDA Golds in the “Image On-Air”, “Open”, “ID”, “Logo For Use On-Air” and “Logo” categories. In addition, E City scored a Sliver BDA award in the “Logo for On-Air, Print And Interactive Applications” category. The channel also clinched the Bronze World Medal in the Entertainment Program Openers & Title at the New York Festival 2004.
“StarHub is proud of the recognition and affirmation that we have received, and will continue to come up with innovative and eye-catching image spots that will showcase Singapore’s talents in international TV promos and design awards shows,” said Mr Toh Da Sheng, Director of StarHub’s Multimedia Solutions Unit, who will be one of the judges of this competition.
“We are now looking at discovering local young talents and are truly looking forward to viewing their entries,” Mr Toh added. “Who knows? We may uncover some gems and invite them to join our team right away!”
The winner of the E City Image Spot Competition will receive a cash prize of S$2000, while the second and third placed entries will be awarded S$1000 and S$500 respectively. All three top works will be aired on E City and displayed on StarHub’s website. Five consolation prize winners will also be given S$200 each. In addition, StarHub will hold an online voting contest, where the winner of the Most Popular Work will walk away with a cash prize of S$300.
The E City Image Spot Competition is open to all students from Nanyang Technological University, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, La Salle (SIA) and all local polytechnics. Those interested to take part can register by 30 April 2005, and thereafter submit their entries by 31 May 2005.
