Paving the way for enhanced 5G services, ensuring superior connectivity and an enhanced user experience for all customers

Singapore, 1 November 2024 – From 1 November 2024, StarHub will retire its 3G network, including voice, messaging, and data services. The strategic move comes in response to the declining utilisation of 3G, aligning with global efforts to phase out older network technologies. With the retirement of its 3G network, StarHub will reallocate some of the freed-up spectrum to enhance its 5G services, providing customers with a superior user experience characterised by faster speeds and increased data capacity.

To ensure a smooth transition, StarHub has taken proactive steps to support customers who are still on 3G. Since the announcement, StarHub has implemented continuous outreach efforts through SMS, emails, phone calls, and WhatsApp alerts to guide customers seamlessly through the upgrade process. The company has also allocated dedicated support at its hotline, website, and retail outlets, where customers can seek assistance and explore promotions to ease their migration to 4G or 5G-enabled devices. Enterprise customers have also received personalised assistance to ensure their operations remain uninterrupted.

With a vast majority of customers already on 4G or 5G plans, StarHub remains fully committed to ensuring this transition is as seamless as possible. Those still using 3G services and require assistance are encouraged to contact the StarHub hotline or visit any StarHub retail store before the end of October to ensure a smooth transition.

Moving forward, StarHub will continue to dedicate resources towards delivering innovative solutions, ensuring that customers consistently benefit from the latest mobile technologies as Singapore transitions into the 5G era.
