Singapore, 1 September 2025 – If you have ever felt mentally drained after a long day of scrolling, you are not alone. A new national survey by StarHub and YouGov shows that over 80% of people in Singapore feel worn out after long hours on their screens.

Recognising the rising toll of screen fatigue, StarHub has introduced the Digital BMI (Balanced Media Index), a quick and insightful wellbeing quiz that gives people a snapshot of their screen-time habits, as well as the upcoming StarHub 5G Wellness Festival, a two-day event designed to inspire people in Singapore to unplug, reconnect, and rediscover joy beyond the scroll.

“We are all living in this always-on world, constantly connected, yet sometimes feeling more disconnected than ever,” said Tan Toi Chia, Chief People, Organisation and Communications at StarHub. “At StarHub, we do not believe technology should drain us. It should support us, help us grow, and bring us closer to what really matters. That is why we’re helping people use tech with more intention, so it fits around their lives, not the other way around.”

From Imbalance to Intention: The Digital BMI

The new Digital BMI Quiz, available on StarHub’s website, invites people to take a pause and check in with how their screen time may be affecting their mind, body, and emotions.

In fact, 9 in 10 people in Singapore admitted to scrolling mindlessly, often out of habit or distraction. Nearly 7 in 10 say it’s harder to focus, while three-quarters feel left behind when scrolling through friends’ posts.

The quiz takes just a few minutes. Each result connects to one of StarHub’s 5G Wellness Pillars – Gather, Glide, Glow, Ground, and Grow. These guiding themes encourage more mindful connection, learning, presence, relaxation and self-care, both on and off the screen.

Bringing Balance to Life: StarHub 5G Wellness Festival

The survey also found that nearly 9 in 10 people turn to their devices when they feel lonely. It is no surprise then that three-quarters of digital detox attempts don't last because what people often need is not less connection, but more meaningful ones.

To create space for that, StarHub is hosting the 5G Wellness Festival at Capitol Outdoor Plaza on 13 - 14 September 2025.

The event invites people to step away from their screens and into a space designed for real-world connection and rejuvenation, each inspired by one of StarHub’s 5G Wellness Pillars.
