Brand-new StarHub 5G SIM cards to be issued to re-contracting and new mobile customers beginning mid-June 2021
Singapore, 25 May 2021 – StarHub today announced that, together with its longstanding infrastructure and device partners Nokia and Samsung respectively, it has successfully dialled Singapore’s first 5G SA call. StarHub has been conducting thorough tests to ensure that customers will be able to enjoy the things they love on the 5G SA network, such as gaming and streaming at ultra-fast speeds and maximum responsiveness, simultaneously with crystal clear mobile conversations with family, friends and business partners.
StarHub crossed the first milestone in August last year, pioneering Singapore’s widest-coverage 5G service for consumers and businesses to experience early 5G benefits. Since then, StarHub has introduced a string of other market-firsts for customers to enjoy unmatched connectivity and digital entertainment, best experienced over the upcoming StarHub 5G SA network:
“StarHub’s laser focus on customer experience underpins everything we do. It is less about the technology, but more about how that makes life better for our customers. During these challenging times where our customers may need to be physically apart from loved ones and adapt to disrupted ways of working, the blazing speeds and massive connectivity of 5G SA bridge distances and allow them to stay entertained, productive and connected,” said Johan Buse, Chief of Consumer Business Group, StarHub. “We are on track to bringing this superior experience to as many customers as we can. We have been working full steam to develop integrated services and digital solutions for everyone – consumers, enterprises and government agencies alike. Stay tuned for bigger and better things out of StarHub over the coming weeks.”
Final preparation for launch
StarHub will begin issuing brand-new 5G SIM cards to customers imminently. From mid-June 2021 as an introductory offer, re-contracting and new Mobile+ and Biz+ customers will receive StarHub’s 5G SIM cards free-of-charge (Usual price: $37.45). These 5G SIM cards will automatically be boosted to StarHub 5G SA when the service launches. StarHub will reach out to customers progressively in the coming weeks with information on how to switch out their current SIM cards.
Concurrently, StarHub has been working closely with all of its device partners to ensure the compatibility of their phone software with StarHub 5G SA, especially for customers who have existing 5G handsets. Together with its device partners, StarHub will make available details about 5G SA software updates in due course.
Customers can expect to enjoy StarHub 5G SA services across hundreds of locations, including high-traffic hubs in Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Chinatown, Clementi, Orchard, Pasir Ris, Paya Lebar, Sengkang, Tampines and Woodlands as well as the Central Business District and Marina Bay Financial Centre.
